Are we two years away from flying cars?!

With drones and self-driving cars all within our reach, it should come as no surprise that people are working to develop flying cars as well. Yet, it still comes as a surprise, right? It’s hard to imagine cars that could function in-air – like something out of the classic television cartoon The Jetsons. But despite the sheer incredible-ness of it all, some experts are say we’ll start to see the world’s first mainstream flying cars get off the ground in the near future.

The company creating the model, Terrafugia, said it’s a matter of funding and completing some of their science and technology efforts, both of which are already under way. However, just because the cars will be functioning in tests doesn’t mean they’ll be for sale. So far, the company has no idea as to how much the models will cost, and are waiting the find the outcome of other determining factors, such as laws and “driving” logistics, before their products can be sold to the public.

When that day does come, though, drivers might prepare to move at 200 miles per hour, mid-air, and in quite possibly the coolest cars to ever be released.
