Tech setbacks delay release of driverless cars

The weather conditions make all the difference when you’re driving. Rain can create slick roads, snow can make paths more difficult to navigate, and any time you have stormy conditions you have to think about visibility. You simply adapt as needed. But with driverless cars, experts say the tech has yet to notice a difference. Each of these weather changes simply can’t be identified by the computers yet. It’s a setback that has to be solved before these vehicles to hit the road.

This is just one of many concerns that will have to be addressed before driverless cars can hit the road. Other potential issues? Lawmakers will want to determine new traffic laws. Manufacturers will have to study safety.

And of course, before driverless cars can be released onto the roads they must be able to identify changes in the weather, experts say. While these climate-changing identifications might not be much of an issue in milder climates, such as California, they could cause some serious problems across the rest of the United States.
