The brand new way to buy cars

dealer stands near a new car, car dealerships

The way we’re buying cars has changed with the times.

For decades, car consumers have followed a pretty predictable path to ownership. They go out to meet with a dealership salesperson, maybe make multiple appointments to look at cars, and after wheeling and dealing (and likely asking a number of questions) finally make their purchase. This can also be said of private-party sales, wherein test drives were given, and cars were first viewed before money exchanged hands.

Lately, however, the standard procedure is moving in a different direction. In a new process that’s being called as the biggest car-buying change in 50 years, salesmen and shoppers alike are working differently. So, what’s the big change everyone’s talking about? Online research and sales.

With the Internet at our fingertips, shoppers are able to research cars and competitive prices before ever stepping foot into a dealership. This not only means salesmen have to put their best prices forward, but that they have to have specific knowledge of each make and model. While this might make their job a little harder, it’s a definite upgrade for the consumer.

Before buying your next car, be sure to take advantage of online resources. It’s a step that just might offer a far better deal.
